Founded by Dr. Sun Yat-sen, Sun Yat-sen University is a comprehensive university with a tradition of running schools for more than 100 years. It is directly under the direct control of the Ministry of Education and is a key university under the State Project 211 and Project 985. The school was formerly known as National Guangdong University, then renamed "National Sun Yat-sen University" and "National First Sun Yat-sen University" after the former name.
